98 LB WEAKLING
Berlin (Sovreign)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

From the driving guitar power of "American Jew" to the infectious reggae rhythm that accents "Don't Speak French," 98lb Weakling mixes things up nicely on their new six song EP, Berlin, a pretty fine little teaser likely to leave you wanting more. It may be a bit disconcerting that even with only six tunes to make it through there's a teensy bit of filler here ("Even Though"), and let's face it, these days filler is sin, but with a world-class winner like "Live Forever" in the mix, no one's going to spend too much energy worrying about that. The band, which is partly made up of members of Lifehouse, now find themselves doing pretty well in the modern music maze, with the EP an exclusive download on iTunes, and "Live Forever" popping up in advertising and as the theme for the reality show, The Gym. Now, everybody leave them alone for about six months so they can write a full-length album, sans filler. Hey, no pressure.
