FURNACEFACE
And The Days Are Short Again... (Upright)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

The familiar weight gain obsession is resurrected in the charmy smarmy "I'm Getting Fat", and it's like Furnaceface never left. It's been a while, but everything's alright again, cuz the Capital boys have endowed us with another swank platter of hoe-down hoser tunes. A warm mix of folky ballads, sharp metal edged raps and all out rawkin' roll, blessed with a passion and humour that remains the face's main forté. A trippy dubscape venture called "23:59" with a plush girlie vocal sees yet another new, albeit most welcome addition to the repertoire. Add the big beat bass heavy, cowpunk rockabilly barnburner "Lucky #7" to the group's formidable list of memorable classics, and the album is a solid whole. This is the goods, and well worth the wait.
