KNOXVILLE GIRLS
(In The Red)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

In a never ending quest to follow Kid Congo Powers to the ends of the earth, I am introduced to the formidable sounds of the Knoxville Girls, who, as far as I can tell, are not from Knoxville, and are not girls. Apparently the "girls" have beefy rock resumes indie aficionados would salivate over, though if yer like me then that sorta talk doesn't hold much water for it is the music that matters in the end. And baby, this music matters. Country, rockabilly and blues played at a southern pace, scuffed up just enough to deliver a necessary edge that we all crave. Charlie Feathers and Ray Charles are thrown in for added pleasure, in what is quickly becoming my latest addiction.
