TOM T. HALL
20th Century Masters/Millennium Collection (MCA)
Reviewed by Shaun

Tom T. Hall has written some of the best story songs in country music,
and country music generally provides the best story songs of all. Some,
if not all, of his best, are included in the twelve tracks of this 12
song set, part of MCA's Millennium Collection budget line. With the
inclusion of titles like "Ballad Of Forty Dollars," "The Year That
Clayton Delaney Died," "Faster Horses (The Cowboy And The Poet) and
"(Old Dogs And Children And) Watermelon Wine," this disc covers enough
of the important bases to make it a home run hit for those who need just
one Tom T. Hall disc for their shelves. Of course, a lot of folks who
think they need just one might find themselves combing the racks of the
nearest CD shop when they've heard enough of this one.
