BS2000
Self-titled (Grand Royal)

Instrumental, cut & paste sampled hip-hop jams from two
truly warped minds. Kid Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys, and
beyond brilliant Beasties live drummer AWOL (Amery Smith)
brought this out semi low-profile style a few years ago.
Now they're set to drop a new full-length album. Even as
Amery plays on the more 'punky' songs in the Beasties
catalog at shows (did you forget that they used to be a
real punk band, with Kate, eventually of Luscious Jackson,
on drums?), he is still miles away from his work on the
first Suicidal Tendencies record, one of the best
'hardcore' albums I've *ever heard (cue for Pennywise to
take some fucking notes). Nobody Beats BS2000 is a fitting
first song. The twenty-three tracks included here mesh
together as two long entertaining sides of this LP, but
unfortunately 'BS2000' was over way too soon.
