The DumDums
It Goes Without Saying (MCA)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

So, girls are mean, jobs suck, there's nothing on the radio and authority figures of all kinds are a perpetual pain. Whatcha gonna do?

If you're DumDums front man Josh Doyle, you're most likely going to write a song and round up a couple mates to pound out some of the best Brit pop-punk around. Doyle, on guitar and vocals, is joined by bassist Steve Clarke and drummer Stuart "Baxter" Wilkinson in a set of a dozen songs covering the subjects above and some of life's more positive sides as well. Performed with style and power, It Goes Without Saying should propel these guys to success on both sides of the big pond with a combination of great pop hooks, MTV good looks and a near perfect blend of teen angst and mature wit.
