LARS FREDERIKSEN & THE BASTARDS
LARS FREDERIKSEN & THE BASTARDS (Hellcat)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

In the ever popular side project offshoot variety aisle please find the latest offering from Rancid co-head honcho Lars. These cute little deviations from the yellow brick road have morphed from curio diversions (bored band members itching for their guilty pleasure outlets), to bona fido non-dogs that threaten the big bad bands from which they sprout. Not that Rancid has anything to worry about as their hypnotized legions will gladly swallow any grape kool-aid coming down the pike, but this little platter is a dandy. A little more Clash rock than the last blistering hardcore ear canal explosion from the big band, this bastard of a record wins with an off-the-cuff fun attitude which screams please release me. And Lars did.
