THE SADIES
Tremendous Efforts (Bloodshot/Outside)

Indeed. The Sadies just can't do no wrong. Following up the sprawling Pure Diamond Gold with a much shorter set will surely irk the faithful, but alas this little nugget is well worth it's weight in gold. After opening with a swaggering and swinging number (a nice touch of cheesy organ thank you), the boys flex some new found garage rave up muscles on the astounding "Loved on Look". A brilliant slice of mid-sixties punk delivered with a heart full of soul, and accentuated with just the right amount of cymbal tinkling, this irresistible dance floor favourite will have the masses shouting the "shoop, shoop" refrain. It'll sweep the nation, trust me. The whole record's a killer, filled with Ennio Morricone spaghetti dust ups, achingly sad dust bowl ballads (look out Giant Sand), and even a Gun Club tune. I rest my case.
