THE FABULOUS BUD E LUV
Diary of a Loungeman (Oglio Records)

This is so bad and campy and irritating I absolutely love it. I especially love the absolutely horrified look my husband gets on his face when he walks into my office and hears me playing this: mangled, loungey versions of Ozzie Osbourne classics. Hands down, the best tracks on here are the piano-heavy "Flying High Again," accompanied by a slow, plodding bass and gentle percussion; the electric keyboard, muzak-backed "Mama I'm Coming Home;" the finger-snappin' rhumba of "Crazy Train"; the wailing saxophone, speed-walking bass lines and scat spoken-word bits of "Bark At the Moon" - shit, they're all equally "good." Bud E. Luv apparently has a book about being a professional lounge singer out on St. Martin's Press, too, which gives him an added validity that I just don't know how to react to.
