THE LEECHES
Suck (British Medical Records)

Man, imagine if Deborah Harry grew up in England, then came to the U.S. as a teenager and joined The Cramps, and you might get an idea of what this band sounds like, except this band is probably even better than that. Frontwoman Lizzi Wood delivers her chilling vocals about murder, worms, and sex as a deadpan lecture from a saucy English dominatrix, while Chris Andrew, Andy Cooper, and Dean Simister thump away in the background with spine-tingling wobbly bass lines and static-filled guitar. "Slice Up (The Wife Tonight)" is an especially great song, and should find a quick home in any one of a series of bad horror movies looming on the horizon.
