Ex members of F.Y.P. formed this band, named coincidentally after F.Y.P's last album, which was by far the best thing they ever released. Nothing like going out with a band, I say. Toys That Kill pick up right where the last F.Y.P. album left off, going in the direction of more melodic, mid-tempo punk as opposed to the more reckless, lo-fi thrash-hardcore sound of especially early F.Y.P. Although lyrically these guys are just as obtuse as F.Y.P. were, with songs like "Ass Mirror (and Puckered Lips)," "Bang Bang Operator" and "Keep Caroline." The recording ante is upped significantly as well, having been done at Sweatbox Studio I Austin with Mike Vasquez. There's some organ and horns added to the basics guitars, bass and drums, as well as weird soundbites and stuff in and in between songs. This is really good!
