Love & Rebellion: A Thick Records Sampler (Thick Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is definitely a well-rounded label, if this is a good slice of what
they have to offer. While all of the bands more than likely
comfortably play little crummy punk rock clubs, the range in styles is
pretty amazing: the opening track from Bitchy is a badly-recorded,
adrenaline-filled standard punk rock track, while the track from Calliope is
a much softer, spoken word piece about a girl from Detroit, accompanied by
minimal acoustic guitar with a mellow, sung chorus. Other contributions come from The Gadjits, Haymarket Riot, The Tossers, Blue Meanies, and
about half a dozen other bands.
