ZEKE
Live and Uncensored (Dead Teenager)

"Zeke uncensored" is like saying "Pamela Anderson skanky." It's not news. It's always been so. The Seattle hardcore punk band, famous for doing songs that would make a porn star blush, but doing them so damned fast it takes a few listens to figure out exactly what is being said, has called it a day, leaving this disc as a fitting epitaph. There are 8 very hot new studio tracks and - count 'em - 29 live tracks, all easily fitting on one disc because the typical Zeke song lasts only slightly longer than one of Robert Downey, Jr.'s comeback attempts. Most clock in under a minute and a half, in fact, and while not all feel complete in that time, you often feel like the referee just waved a young Tyson off you before you could suffer permanent damage. We're talking endings that are so abrupt you nearly fall forward, no hope of avoiding the jagged glass left behind by the sonic assault of powderkegs like "West Seattle Acid Party," "Fuck All Night," "Dogfight" and "Don't Give A Fuck." 37 songs in an hour and 7 minutes? I guess Zeke ain't into long goodbyes.

Waaait a minute... Word just in... Actually, Zeke ain't into goodbyes at all, as it turns out. The retirement was short, and the band have hit the road again, minus guitarist Sonny Riggs III, so there may be another decade of rapid rock and debauchery to go. Why knows?
