Disco Alterno (Kafka)

Dissecting disco and new wave standards is like shooting fish in a barrel with a bazooka, but that doesn't take away the fun aspect. Groovy Aardvark rip into "I Feel Love" with a heavy hand, adding just the right prog rock touches to give it a complete makeover, and opening the record on a very appetizing note. Unfortunately the rest of the collection can't quite maintain the pace. Redcore's butchery of "Funky Town," and WD-40 turning Blondie's "Call Me" into "Page-moi" has its moments, but the wildly uneven nature of this beast makes it pretty darn unlistenable as a whole. Do we really need a heavy metal version of "Planet Claire," or a straight version of "Here Comes the Rain Again," or the hideous, cock-rock take of "What a Feeling"?
