SAM DENSMORE'S SILVERHAWK
Flowers In June EP (Pop Sweatshop)
Reviewed by Shaun Dale
Sam Densmore, a member of the Portland, OR, noise band Frequency dB, shows
his affection for and skill at a different kind of noise on Flowers In June,
a four track demonstration of the art of the jangle. Yep, it's noisy,
jangly pop, performed by a trio that includes Densmore on vocals and guitar,
bassist Dan Kelly and drummer Paul Elkins. They achieve a sound that's
bigger than their numbers might suggest, and the songwriting is excellent.
The latter point might be expected, as Densmore culled the best from a
decade of his pop efforts to put on the CD. It's a brief introduction, but
a good one, worth seeking out.
Track List:
Flowers In June * Summer Came * Break Your Crown * Obsessive (out of tune)
