D.R. HOOKER
The Truth (Subliminal Sounds)
Reviewed by Alan Wright
I had no ideas what to expect from this curious reissue, featuring a
bearded hippie in a robe holding a guitar on the cover! Dating from '72,
this is a messed-up, freaky mix of folkrock, psychedelia and heavy rock.
There appears to be somewhat of a Christian vibe lyrically, but not overt
enough to make it too cheesy, just adds to the overall bizarreness of this
almost indescribable artifact!
