ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN
Live In Liverpool (True North/Cooking Vinyl)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

Not quite on the same scale as that Eagles hell freezing over spectacle, Echo and the Bunnymen's reformation and subsequently requisite stroll down memory lane live document will make a lot of Brits all warm and fuzzy inside. As most of the old codgers from the now ancient new wave slowly crawl back to the stage, propped up on walkers, oxygen tanks in tow, it becomes painfully obvious what a load of timeless pap they inflicted upon the then hip generation. Time festers most wounds, save for a couple of cases. Echo was never about the cold, calculated posing going on, it was chiefly about the music. And it stands up quite well after all these centuries. "Rescue," "The Cutter," "The Killing Moon" - quite listenable stuff. They were the new wave Doors after all - and the Doors continue to be very much a viable commodity right?
