IN THIS ISSUE OF COSMIK DEBRIS: Heartbeat Records' Chris Wilson talks about how he became a reggae fan, gathered encyclopedia-like knowledge and how that turned into a great career path for him; Never Heard Of It shares their Warped Tour diary with Cosmik's readers; Sunset Daydreams, the ultimate jam band concert venue and gathering spot, needs your help; Alan Wright takes A Closer Look at the Wailers' new re-releases; and the 13 O'Clock news this month will knock your socks off. All that on top of 117 CD reviews, lots of Everything Else in Review, and our usual collection of Cosmik Columns. We're glad you're here... have a ball!

Audible Debris COSMIK RADIO!: TEXT ABOUT RADIO SHOW You just need a RealAudio Player to listen. If you don't have one, go pick one up. Cosmik Radio is just the kind of Net-Only audio that radio station program directors don't want you getting hooked on. So go ahead. Inhale!

REGGAE PRODUCER - Chris Wilson: After more years in the vaults than Indiana Jones, the ultimate reggae fan settles into the producer's chair and a new phase of a great career. Listen in as he tells DJ Johnson about how he became a reggae fan and how that turned in to a great career path for him.

DOING THE WARPED THING - A Warped Tour Dairy By Never Heard Of It: In homage to NHOI's DIY attitude, rather than crank out another boring what's-your-favorite-color interview, we asked them to write, in their own words, the story of their adventures on Warped Tour 2003.

A COSMIK APPEAL - Save The Day For A Daydream: If you are a fan of jam band music, or just a believer in the dream of maintaining an idyllic mountain concert area, just such a place exists and is in need of your help.

THE WAILERS - A Closer Look: Now and then we feel a release or re-release should be given special attention. Now and then we're so excited about it we just want to rant. For those reasons we introduce A Closer Look, a new series of features in which we'll surely do some gushing about the artists closest to our hearts. To kick it off, Alan Wright got ahold of some Wailers re-releases.

TIME FOR THE THIRTEEN O'CLOCK NEWS - You won't believe your eyes - Resident Bush has to straighten out the Pope, and he's figured out a solution for the world's oil problems all by himself! That and more ludicrous news (even the true stuff!) awaits you on the 13 O'Clock News.

CD & RECORD REVIEWS - We have 117 reviews for you this month - not a record, but a nice big pile of them! There's something for everybody here - 6 Blues Kingpin albums, which are benefiting the Blues Foundation, some major label stuff with David Bowie and The Who, some delightful psychobilly with Big John Bates, country, soul, jazz, rock-n-roll, punk, hip hop, new wave (British and American), world music, surf... even have some String Quartet for ya. Practically any genre you could name, and some great stuff that defies classification too. Yummy yummy, you could spend hours in here!

EVERYTHING ELSE IN REVIEW - Wow, a panoply of stuff this month, on top of all those CD reviews! Some of the books have been out there a while, but we think you shouldn't miss them. 3 concerts, a DVD about the career of Ron Jeremy.... shoot, we don't see how it can get better than this!

CLOSET PHILOSOPHY - Of Recalls, Rebates, Rituals And Right-Wings is the title of Rusty's column this month, but really he gets all philosophical about why gay marriage doesn't deserve the attention it's getting.

COSMIK BLUES - There's a lot of celebrating going on in this Year of the Blues, and Eric brings us some of the highlights. Don't miss these!

PIGSHIT by GARY PIG GOLD - Eight questions were asked of FFanzeen's Robert Barry Francos, and we have the answers right here.

MASS APPEAL MADNESS - Looking at a different type of Mass Appeal Madness this month, Jason discusses the phenomena that is Online Communities.

MEDIA CURMUDGEON - Karl's taking a month off, kinda, and just rambles along tying up some loose ends with you in his column titled "It's Summer and I'm Rambling."

CREDITS - The names and e-mail addresses of the people responsible for this thing.

COSMIK RADIO - Want an hour of music that fits the personality of Cosmik Debris Magazine? That's right, Sinatra segues into Megadeth into Peter Tosh into Man Or Astro-Man into... well, you get the picture. It's a little something we like to call Genre Whiplash. Or maybe you're in the mood for a trip into The Fog Machine, our mix of music of the ethereal variety. All you need is a RealAudio player. Come on in.

OUR OWN WEBSITES - Many of the Cosmik Debris writers have websites of their own. We have some links right here.

Every now and then we who surf the Internet run across a Paypal button, and most have a recommended amount of donation listed. I don't know about you, but even when I believe in the cause, sometimes I'm feeling a bit strapped and $25 dollars seems like a lot to part with. This month we have an article on a great concert and camping area in West Virginia. Look for the Sunshine Daydreams article by Shaun Dale. This is a breathtakingly beautiful place and one of the last outposts for the fading idea of communal gathering, peace, love and rock and roll. The problem is one of the partners who bought the land wants out, and he wants the others to come up with the money or they lose the land. They're holding a huge concert this week, and that money will help, but the ongoing influx of money through their auctions and the Paypal button on their website are going to be crucial factors. Read the article, please, and then go check out the site. If you care about what they do, and you think it's still a valuable thing that should exist in our society, click on the Paypal button and donate something, even if it's just a buck or two. If 1 in 10 of our readers did that, it'd help. If 1 in 10 of that 1 in 10 popped for bigger cash, it'd help a lot. If everybody who thinks it's a worthy cause linked to Shaun's article and passed along the notion of "just a buck or two'll do," then the readership of Cosmik Debris could really make a dent. It's worth a shot, don't you think?
