BOBBY BARE JR'S YOUNG CRIMINALS' STARVATION LEAGUE
OK - I'm Sorry... (Bloodshot)

EP hell, in the glory days of vinyl this woulda been an album. Sounds like it too. A half hour of spirited, clever music is nothing to sneeze at. Four live cuts, a charming demo, two sweaty videos and a tear welling version of the Hillside Singers' (no kidding) "I'd Like to Teach The World To Sing" - the grandaddy of feel good, hug a tree anthems turned into a "hippies holding hands on the grass" Coke commercial. They just don't drip optimism like that anymore. Whoah, sidetracked again. Back to Bobby. Living up to Senior (a respected country dude) is never easy, but Junior is certainly making his mark as a snappy songwriter and joyous performer in the rock and roll world. A rarity really. Just give the criminally overlooked "Valentine", now presented in a kicking concert version, another listen. Start here and just wait till he really gets going.
