ORGANIC THOUGHT
The Purest Form (Blaze The World)
Reviewed by DJ Johnson
If you're familiar with my reviews you probably know that I really can't stand cliche hip-hop with buckets of the "N" word, "Bitch" and "Ho." I think it's crap. Which isn't to say I hate hip-hop, because there isn't much these days that gets me as excited as hot hip-hop that isn't just following the formula. I actually keep a list so I can recommend artists to people who feel like I do. I just added Organic Thoughts to the list. They're asking the right questions, doing it through poetry that always slides along the grooves just right, and they're creating some very cool misty imagery in the process. They spin a sharp stream of consciousness that's fun to plug into, not surprising since they approach things from a rather odd angle. I'm not talking about stage clothes and lighting, either. I'm talking about a hip-hop crew that consists of, besides the usual MC/DJ types, a computer programmer, a graphic designer and a financial specialist. Huh? Yeah, that's what it says in their bio. Makes you wonder what the financial specialist does when the crew is battlin'. Whatever is done by whichever person, it works, and it's worthy of your attention.
