TANAKH
Villa Claustrophobia (Alien 8 Recordings)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is wonderful, if you're into the soft, mellow-thing, and I am,
especially with a baby screaming in my ear pretty much non-stop anymore.
This CD is nothing but gorgeous washes of spooky and melancholy ambience,
punctuated by quiet guitar strumming, loops, drones, and lead singer Jesse
Poe's soft voice that reminds me a lot of Peter Murphy. Some of these songs
are so quiet, in fact, that they seem out of place in my living room, and
sound like they should be confined to a Buddhist temple, maybe, or at least
some place with a better stereo system.
