TARA DELONG
You Do the Math (Fatal Recordings)
Reviewed by Holly Day
You have to hand it to Atari Teenage Riot - they are dedicated enough to all
their political causes that even the other people signed to their private
spinoff labels record highly political music. Tara Delong is no
exception - the feisty Mexican industrial rapper, signed to Hanin Elias'
label, writes very angry songs about plastic surgery, capitalism,
conspicuous consumerism, McDonald's, drug dealers, the media, and anything
else that pisses her off. The record reminds me a lot of the stuff Meg Lee
Chin was doing a couple of years ago, with more nasty-sounding guitar and
the occasional seductive Spanish coo in the background.
