FIRESIGN THEATRE
In The Fire Zone (Firezine Productions)
Reviewed by Rusty Pipes
This release is a special live CD recorded on The Firesign Theatre's Spring
Tour this year, specifically the May 2nd show at the Bagley Wright Theatre
in
Seattle.
Much of the performance is drawn from last fall's Give Me Immortality Or
Give
Me Death. The Radio Now scenes give an easy framework for lots of classic
pieces too, such as the Wall of Science from Bozos, the perennial favorite
Nick Danger and more from 2 Places, and there's a guest appearance from
George Leroy Tirebiter in a long version of Anythynge You Want To, first
found on Not Insane but later expanded on Shakespeare's Lost Comedie.
TFT is in fine form, unpretentious and not above joking with the audience
during the two hours of material. Since they are essentially radio
performers, very little is lost without having any visuals. I feel like I
attended the show--maybe this should really be a concert review! Great stuff
for starving Fireheads everywhere.
In The Fire Zone is a mono recording but very a high quality one. It's also
a
little light on the liner notes, but who cares? It's well worth the modest
price and profits go to keeping the official Firesign fan magazine going.
Order it direct from Firezine Productions, you can find them online at
