RUGRATS
In Search of The Mighty Reptar (Kid Rhino)

I didn't feel perfectly qualified to write about this CD so I turned to my panel of experts, my kids. The album passed the panel's review with flying colors.

The CD is two stories, Reptar on Ice and Journey to the Center of the Basement, both resurrected from previous incarnations as cartoons. Who's Reptar? You mean you don't watch the show like 23 million kids across the country? Reptar is the Godzilla analog found in many of the Rugrats cartoons, he's the favorite of all the Rugrats kids: Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil. The evil Angelica is mysteriously absent in these stories. Reptar on Ice is the funnier of the two, mostly because of the bombastic opera that is built into the story.

Thumbs up if you're a kid, a Rugrats fan or possibly a Mark Mothersbaugh fan. I'm sure the Reptar operetta has a honored place on his resume, though it's light years removed from his main claim to fame, Devo. All in all a nice one to pop into the CD player on a long car trip or if you're looking for an alternative to the boob tube to occupy the kids.
