CHAINSAW KITTENS
The All American (4 Alarm)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

The cycle is now complete. The Kittens were once a raucous, raunchy American guitar buzz band, but slowly and surely Tyson Meade has evolved his smartass outfit into a slick glam pop ensemble worthy of British passports. Plenty of fancy piano tinkling and suave crooning elevate these poncy lads to the grandiose levels enjoyed by their overlauded contemporaries (see UK charts if you must), though a good dollop of wit does 'em all one better. After eleven clever pop masterpieces Meade closes by melting "We Got The Beat" with "Nightclubbing". A sure fire curtain call, and a stroke of absurdist genius you'll spank yerself for not having thought up.
