OMAR AND THE HOWLERS
The Screaming Cat (Provogue)

Funny how acts come and go. I remember Omar and the Howlers storming on to the scene in '87 with a swampy Creedence boogie blues record, whipped to proper shape by a snarly Wolfman Jack vocal. Quickly gobbled up by hard rock radio, and quickly dropped outta sight. Now the Howling corpse is resurrected in fine, creepy fashion, with added bite for the new millennium. If anything, Omar sounds more devilish, his raspy throat delivery aging like true rot gut. This grimy Texan blues rawk is the proper drinking hole soundtrack when you cross on over to the wrong side of the tracks. Go on, git.
