SARAH HARMER
You Were There (Zoe)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

Slipping away from her Weeping Tile mates for a solo excursion, Sarah Harmer may well never go back. The folky swing here gives a new dimension of confidence to Harmer's charming voice. An influx of instruments beyond the usual rockinroll strings and sticks restriction helps flush out the diva inside. Wurlitzers, clarinets, cellos and tambourines ... classy stuff. Sounds as if Sarah' been listening to the McGarrigle sisters. The album has that carefree feel, homey and catchy to boot. Start with the delightful "Uniform Grey" and see for yourself.
