LIVE
V (Radioactive)

V finds Pennsylvania's favorite multi-platinum rockers in a classic anthemic
mood, cranking out
balls to the wall rock and roll mixed with emotionally charged paeans to the
glory of love. Produced in a three and a half week marathon session on the
heels of their last world tour, it's a terrific album with some of the
band's strongest songs.
Particularly notable is the ballad "Overcome," which the band has dedicated
to the survivors of the 9/11 attack on New York City and Washington, D.C.
Written before those events, it seems in
some ways prophetic, but only because lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyk has
developed a knack for writing songs that capture a universal emotional
pulse.
Live gets assists along the way from Tricky, Counting Crows' Adam Duritz and
Eleven's Natasha Schneider, but it's really the strength of Kowalczyk's
songs and the impassioned play of the rest of the band that puts this one in
line to become another smash.
