SEAN ARDOIN & ZYDEKOOL
Pullin' (Tomorrow)

If there's a royal family in the world of Louisiana music, it must be
Ardoin. Since Amede Ardoin (Sean Ardoin's great-great uncle) made the first
recording of Creole accordion in the 1920s, the family has carried on in the
front ranks of the scene, from grandfather Bois Sec Ardoin's traditional
performances with his partner Canray Fontenot, through father Lawrence and
his band The Ardoin Brothers and on to Sean's partnership with brother Chris
in Chris Ardoin & Double Clutchin'.
Sean Ardoin has taken his single row button accordion, his joyful voice and
his dynamic stage presence to the front of a new group now. ZydeKool brings
pop and funk elements into the Creole tradition that Sean still pays tribute
to, and creates a brand of zydeco that will satisfy the aficionado and
appeal to fans of more contemporary dance styles as well.
This is the next logical step past the late Beau Jocque, a step forward for
zydeco that will have dancers getting in step from coast to coast.
