DRUNK INJUNS
From Where the Sun Now Stands, I Will Fight No More, Forever (Alternative Tentacles)

I don't know where these guys are from, but I'm guessing the DC area, just because they sound so much like Bad Brains (the slower stuff, anyway) it's eerie, down to the trilling off of vocals and the proto-metal bass lines. Recorded in 1982-1984, this album is rife with political references to the time, including the random harassment police/redneck funny-looking people thing that just doesn't happen now (these kids with pink hair and pretty tattoos, they don't know how easy they got it). I have no idea whether or not the Drunk Injuns were made up of actual Native Americans or not, but their repertoire also occasionally seems concerned with indigenous people's conflicts and problems.
