HERMANO
Only A Suggestion (Tee Pee)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

The other worldly growl of John Garcia is with us again. Struggling to find a voice after Kyuss, Garcia has meandered whilst his former guitar dude has reaped the riches with QOTSA. Hermano, employing the dual axe attack of David Angstrom and Mike Callahan, brings back the head-snapping kick of Kyuss. The sludgy bong jams may be gone, and so is the primal drumming of Brant Bjork, but this is as close as Garcia has come to revisiting the vitriol of hazy days passed. Delivering a formidable crunch, Only A Suggestion blasts through eight tunes in under thirty minutes, with not a wasted second. And Garcia's voice is still one of the finest reasons to insert stylus to groove.
