THE ME DECADE
Gentrification Is Theft (Spade Kitty Records)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Hey "Echo Beach!" Ya gotta love that. But lest not get fooled by the insertion of a fave new wave Canuck staple, for the record at hand stands well above the novelty aspect. The Me Decade is Larry O. Dean, a man of warm voice and irresistible music manner, plus friends Every song here sounds dang familiar. Maybe it's the strength of the lyrics, or the cello and guitar interplay. I love the cello. More albums should feature the cello. I can't stress this enough. Violins are good too, and they also make an appearance. About as folksy (in a good way) as an album can get. Highly recommended.
