PARKSIDE
Red Balloons and White Confetti (Coaxial)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Sweet, naive-sounding psychedelic bubblegummy pop reminiscent of the pretty
psych music of the late '60s, especially reminds me of the Strawberry Alarm
for some reason, with lyrics about love and love lost and drugs. The mix
quality of the music isn't the greatest, most-modern sounding, but that
makes it sound even more like something recorded a long time ago and doesn't
detract from listenability at all. In fact, there are a couple of tracks on
here - "Don't Put It..." and "Take Back Your Ring" especially - that should put
this band on the musical map, but since that's not how radio works anymore,
they're probably doomed to obscurity like all the other real bands out
there.
