BLONDIE
Live By Request (Sanctuary)

This music is so damn happy, it's hard to believe it was once termed punk. Candy coated guitar licks, tootsie roll drumming from Clem Burke (one of the best ever) and the sassy lollipop vocals of glam bitch Debbie Harry are enough for an ice cream headache flashback. "Dreaming," "Hanging On The Telephone," "One Way Or Another," "Heart Of Glass" ... even the sickly reggae and disco numbers don't sound all that dated. And though the DVD gives the attention deficit crowd something to do with their eyes, it is a tad awkward seeing a greying Chris Stein and plumping Debbie Harry on a glitzy tv stage taking calls from gushing fans (grown up punks - yuck)... yer best bet is the easy on the eyes CD version.
