MARY KARLZEN
(Not Just Until) The Season Ends (EP) (Y&T Records)
Reviewed by Shaun Dale
According to my (usually impeccable) sources, the new year promises to bring
a new Mary Karlzen album. While we're waiting for that, though, there's one
left from last year that you may have missed.
I got ahold of Karlzen's 2004 holiday EP a bit late for a timely review last
year, but it's back on the shelves for Xmas '04, and would make a worthy
addition to your seasonal shelf. Not only does Mary offer her distinctive
touch on four holiday standards, but she uses them to frame an original
song, "(Not Just Until) The Season Ends," which deserves standard status
itself.
In fact, it offers exactly the wish I'd like to share with all the Cosmik
staffers and readers who might stumble across this review...
"Let's hold hands, let's give a cheer
for the coming of a new year.
Let's hold hands, let's say we're friends
Not just until the season ends..."
Happy, merry, joyous whatever you celebrate.
Track List:
