The Distance To Here (Radioactive)

After a three year hiatus, Live is back to stare down the alt.ain't. stardom.a.bitch.how.can.we.go.on poser bands with a 13 song set that's, well, it's downright uplifting. Which is not to say that the boys have gone all Summer Of Love on us or anything. There's plenty of boom and howl to be heard, and not a jangle or sweet harmony on the premises. Still, songwriter/vocalist Ed Kowalczyk contributes an outlook that reminds us that there's more to just about everything than meets the eye, and that the eye can be turned to a more productive view just about anytime we choose.

The songs here look up and out, addressing broad social and spiritual themes or narrowing to a particular human relatinship. The lyrics are generally articulate and the music rocks. That's a pretty rare combination lately, one we could use more than a little bit more of. The Distance To Here is a big step there.
