RYAN ADAMS
Heartbreaker (Bloodshot)

Sometimes good comes out of bad. When the last Whiskeytown album got lost in a major label merger, the band's Ryan Adams decided to move on and record a solo album. The resulting Heartbreaker is a true gem of electrified country folk and one of the best records of the year. He might be burdened with a voice that slips easily into Dylan mode, but Adams climbs above this potential hazard with an uncanny gift for original song structure. There may be no going back to Whiskeytown after this.
