VAROUS ARTISTS
Skratch Trax 2000 Vol. #2 (Hapi Skratch)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

Hapi Skratch is considerably more than a Colorado based indie label. Under the guidance of Morris Beegle, a Rocky Mountain musical renaissance man, Hapi Skratch records, publishes, distributes, recruits, and books an eclectic mix of musicians whose only common ground seems to be excellence. Beegle, an excellent guitarist in his own right, is intimately involved in virtually every phase of development for the artists he brings into the Hapi Skratch family, and the world of independent music is much richer for his efforts.

The evidence is all over Skratch Trax 2000 Vol. #2, the label's latest compilation, featuring 16 tracks of sounds that variously sizzle, soar and soothe. Like its predecessor, Skratch Trax 1 1/2, this disc offers up one artist after another that you're bound to want to know more about and hear more of. Fortunately, Hapi Skratch makes that easy through the medium of the Hapi Skratch Superstore (hssuperstore.com), the online retail arm of the Hapi Skratch empire.

You may not have heard of many, or even most, of the Hapi Skratch roster, but you ought to hear them, all of them, and Skratch Trax 2000 Vol. #2 is a great place to start.
