DVD: The Kids In The Hall
Complete Season 2, 1990-1991 (Broadway Video/A&E)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

The second season of the remarkable Canadian quintet's invasion of stateside airwaves is chronicled on the first three discs of this box set, with a fourth disc of bonus features completing the package.

Fans of the troupe will find all their favorite characters (Buddy, Cabbage Head, Chicken Lady and all the rest of the KOTH 'girls') and scenarios, and there would be more than enough reason to add this set to your collection simply for the 20 episodes from the group's HBO era that are included, but the bonus material, including oral history interviews, audio commentary, posters, bios and a pair of 'best of' compilations, definitely puts it in the must-have category for comedy buffs.

But wait! There's more! 30 more minutes of the improv material that the Kids performed on the stage of Toronto's Tivoli Theater in their earliest days, showing again that the genius that was displayed on international TV screens was the unique product of five of the finest comic minds of our time.

There's plenty to enjoy here. Enough, in fact, to tide you over handily until the appearance of Season 3.

Well, almost enough. Actually, I can't wait.
