IGGY AND THE STOOGES
Double Danger (Bomp)

The latest entries in the Iguana Chronicles series from Bomp Records, Double Danger captures two previously unreleased concerts from the tail end the Raw Power tour in 1973; a Baltimore gig from November and the infamous New Year's Eve show at New York's Academy Of Music. And you thought the biggest balls dropped in Times Square!
With James Williamson ripping bloody noise from his axe and the Asheton brothers thundering along as the rhythm section, Iggy is captured here in full combat mode. Both sets feature the expected tracks like "Raw Power", "Gimme Danger" and "Search And Destroy", but having two versions of both "Rich Bitch" and especially the scathing "Wet My Bed" is a real treat. The sound is obviously audience bootleg level, but have heard much worse. Hell, I would imagine well placed studio microphones would have melted anyway. Two shows so brutal and vicious that they had to place them on separate disks as if they were Siamese Fighting Fish.
Note to bootleg collectors - you may have heard these shows before, but they sounded like they were recorded underwater. Considering the source material, this is about as good of a job of digitally remastering the tapes that you could hope for. Drop the dime.
