SOUNDTRACK
Swingers Too! (Hollywood)

The sequel to the soundtrack, what a concept! I didn't see the flick,
and I didn't catch the first installment of the sounds, but after
listening to the music on this collection of "more music from and inspired
by the hit motion picture Swingers," I'm pretty sure I'd like them both.
Sure enough, at least, to find out on my next trip to the video store.
I'm not sure which tunes are "from" and which are "inspired by," except
for the obvious soundtrackily cheesy version of the BeeGees' "Stayin
Alive" performed by what I assume are characters from the film, here
identified as Marty & Elayne. The remaining cuts include classic tracks
from Dinah Washington & Brook Benton, Lambert, Hendicks & Ross, a hodge
podge of secondary but still fine cuts from the likes of Dean Martin,
Sammy Davis, Jr., and Mel Torme and a nearly bewildering mix of artists
like Heart, Willie Nelson, Xavier Cugat and Willie Nelson. It all
somehow holds together thematically.
Full of songs you're not likely to have elsewhere in your collection,
along with a few you might have in several spots, it's a worthwhile
addition to the soundtrack slot on your CD shelf.
