FIAMMA FUMANA
1.0 (Omnium Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This CD falls just short of being perfect. The Italian trio combines
traditional music elements like accordion, bagpipe, and beautiful vocals
(sung in Italian, I'm assuming) with dance rhythm tracks and synthesizer
effects on these near-flawless recordings, and that is, perhaps, where the
problem lies-for me, anyway. I prefer my tribal music raw, brutal and
passionate, and my techno edgy and loaded with static and dissonance. These
songs, while rendered expertly so far as sound quality and song construction
go, feel too squeaky-clean and contrived to make much more impact in my
heart than a particularly cool car commercial.
