Cabin In the Woods (Carrot Top)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Cynthia Nelson (formerly of Ruby Falls) and Tara Jane O'Neil (of Rodan) pair
up to create some beautiful, minimalist hillbilly music. Drawing inspiration
from train tracks, closing time, and what was probably the wildlife and
trees immediately surrounding the cabin in the woods the duo recorded the
album in over the summer of 2000. While this album is significantly more
slickly produced than their previous efforts, the music still retains the
feel of being sweet, albeit somewhat depressing, guitar and banjo campfire
songs that have trademarked their work all along. Ida's Ida Pearle and Liz
Mitchell provide occasional accompaniment on violin and accordion,
respectively.
