NIKKI AND THE CORVETTES
self-titled (Bomp!)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Nikki shoulda been a star. She was smart, cute, saucy and one of the few strong girl voices in the new wave scene. Like Blondie or The Waitresses, except with a bit of a trashy, jail bait aura. The power bubblegum pop of the music was made for the times, and though Nikki became a minor sensation in the Detroit area, it just didn't pan out nation wide. One album, a couple of singles, all included here, is all we have.
