READYMADE
On Point and Red (Endearing Records)

Vancouver's Readymade make pretty songs with dreamy, far-away vocals pressed into a canvas of lush, pretty ambient backdrops, with slow, underemphasized percussion, droning synth chords, and repetitive, well-chosen guitar riffs. I don't know what people do with music like this - I guess you can dance to it, but it'd be such slow dancing, like tai chi, or perhaps you can talk through it, since it slides unobtrusively into whatever scenery it's played against. These aren't negative comments, because I really do like this - it's just so meditative and peaceful it makes me wonder who the band envisioned as their audience, and what that audience might be wearing right now.
