Fans of the traditional hunting song "Sportsmen, Arouse!" will want to pay extra attention to "Join Our Lusty Chorus," for Alasdair Roberts has incorporated the former into the latter, valiantly keeping the flame of Sussex's Copper Family burning bright. Rekindling old timey British folk music used to be quite hip (Fairport Convention, Traffic, Jethro Tull), but died a good death along with classic rock radio (don't tell the parents). Then along comes Alasdair, with melodicas, glockenspiels and mandolins, to remind us all how powerful a good sung tale could be. with rock trappings getting in the way.
