THE D4
6Twenty (Hollywood)

This stateside release of this hot new New Zealand band's CD is what hepped me to their fine sound. This thing is a real blast of rock n' roll power. They have it all: the stance, the hooks, and the chops. Their sound is sorta punky-garage, with occasional organ embellishments for a more 6Ts sound. This is one of those rare things that immediately got my attention on first play. By the end of the CD I knew it was going to be a favorite. Their songs are so damn good! "Rock 'n' Roll Motherfucker," "Party," "Come On!" all have amazingly catchy hooks. They do some choice covers too: Guitarwolf's "Invader Ace," the NY Dolls' "Pirate Love" and the Scavengers' great '70s punker "Mysterex." This is just too good!!
