Flamethrower (Dead Teenager)
Reviewed by DJ Johnson
Dead Teenager's stable of hard rock bands is impressive, indeed, and while Flamethrower may not be the most interesting among them (in my opinion that award goes to Dirty Power, hands down), I do believe they'd have to be the most explosive. Everything happens at NASCAR speeds, and I ain't talkin' short track here. Brian High's melodic screaming has bite and boom at the same time, making him a rarity and, I'm guessing, somebody a million bands would like to steal. It sounds like he's having too much fun with Flamethrower. I enjoy listening to this CD like I enjoy guzzling triple venti lattes. They all taste the same, but I'm just after the buzz. There simply aren't any songs here I can remember enough to single out in this review. Then again, I can't remember any particular punch in round one of Hagler -vs- Hearns, either. I just remember my adrenal glands exploding midway through. So there you have it. Do you require memorable, well-crafted songs you'll be singing in the car while playing steering wheel drums, or shall we just hook you up to the power source and turn up the juice?
