Oh this is dire. Nina Nastasia's dark debut of haunting country ballads spooked many people, and now she returns with a new twist of the knife to reel the rest in. Bringing in more instruments to the fold gives Nastasia's tunes of woe added ghostly power. As beautiful as some Mazzy Star moments, but with a wicked edge matched only by Nick Cave in a cutting mood, Road To Ruin is a breath-taking, life-sucking, heart-wrenching masterpiece of the first order.
