O'2L
O'2l (Peak)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

VERY energetic electronica/acid jazz from the team of Jane Mangini and Al Pitrelli, who blend so many layers of sound that it becomes a daunting task picking out the elements. The Celtic influence is clear, and even if it was buried deeper in the mix their name, O'2l, would have given them away. They slow it way down for the new-agey piano number "Something's Missing," which I'd like complain about if it wasn't just a short - and actually quite pretty - intro to the much more exciting and creative "Dream River." Perhaps the most energetic and inspired tune is "Stolen Beat Box," with its propulsive beat and mysterious sounds just above the mix, as if floating over your head as you hurtle along. I can't recommend this one enough for people who enjoy electronica, acid jazz, and even a bit of new age. O'2L seem to have appeared out of the blue right at the top of the heap.
